A
day trip, tour to Klias Wetlands near Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo provides a
chance to spend an afternoon and evening traveling through a mangrove forest
situated on the Klias peninsular. The Klias Wetlands reserve is full of
wildlife including many species of birds and if you are lucky you may see Proboscis Monkeys, Long
Tail Macaques or Silver Languor Monkeys.
The
Klias Wetlands river trip leaves from the Klias jetty at about 3pm in the
afternoon. During your river cruise through the mangrove forest you will see
apes as they start feeding as dusk approaches. You'll also, after dusk, enjoy a
stunning display of fireflies. A beautiful combination.
ITINERARY
1400 hrs - Meet at
hotel lobby and depart for Kota Klias, located approximately 112 km from Kota
Kinabalu.
The journey will
pass small towns, paddy fields and villages.
1600 hrs - Arrive at
Kota Klias Jetty, local tea/coffee and cakes will be served.
1630 hrs - Board
boat for river cruise to search for the odd nosed monkeys of Borneo - the
Proboscis Monkeys.
When darkness sets
in, on the return journey to the jetty, witness nature's display of Christmas
lights - the fireflies.
1900 hrs - Arrive at
the jetty for a hearty dinner overlooking the Klias River.
2030 hrs - After
dinner, depart for Kota Kinabalu and transfer to your respective hotels.
2230 hrs - End of
